"Wood Pulp Bedding
Megazorb is a virgin wood pulp product which is taken into Northern Crop Driers premises where they have produced high quality dried grass for over 25 years. “We now take high moisture content wood pulp and dry it at high temperature (500oC),” the company told Farmers Guide. “This kills off the chance of any moulds, spores or bacteria being present in the bedding. This process is, as far as we are aware, unique in the horse bedding industry, no other product is dried at anything like this temperature. We then dust extract it twice and put it into 85 litre bags and sell it as Megazorb.
It is probably the most absorbent horse bedding on the market as well as having high insulation properties for a very comfortable bed. When the bed is down and managed properly it is also very economical. Northern Crop Driers have built the business up over the last eighteen months and during last winter and spring sold some 35,000 bags of Megazorb and are hoping to more than double that this coming autumn and winter.
Northern Crop Driers have taken a by-product from the wood pulp industry that would normally go to waste, applied a process to it with their heavy industrial drying equipment and produced a product which does an excellent job in the horse bedding world.
